Chapter News

04/30/2017 - Ventura Chapter News
The Ventura County PAHCOM Chapter has been busy planning for a new year. In January our new Chapter Officer Induction Ceremony took place. It was an honor to be sworn in by our exceptional outgoing President. The 2016 Officers did an exceptional job and we appreciate all their support. In January we had Jonathan Light, attorney with the Law office of Light Gabler, LLP present the chapter with 2017 Employment Law Updates. He updated us on new laws and key tips arising out of cases and administrative matters decided in 2016. We can now update our handbooks, doctors, and staff. In February, Catherine Hanson, JD, Chief Strategic Solutions Officer Specialist with QVH Consultants gave us a very informative presentation on MACRA/MIPS made easy. A brief look at how we got here and how payments to physicians will change under MACRA. She discussed MIPS categories and scoring, alternative payment models, participation options in 2017, and how to prepare for the these programs. In March we offered our members a “Financial Tune-up”. Presentation was by Dustin Baxley, Financial Advisor from Edward Jones. He structured the presentation to medical practices. Topics covered: The Entrepreneurial Equation - this covered a broad range of topics including comments on time management, attracting and retaining employees, types of relevant business-related insurance that offices may use to manage risk, as well as the different types of retirement plans (401k being one of them). Outlook and Opportunities: this was much more specific to investing, current economic climate/trends, and building and maintaining the right mix of investments in a retirement plan. As for the April, we are preparing for our Annual PAHCOM Chapter Spring Workshop on May 3, 2017.
