08/24/2014 - The August Orlando Chapter Meeting
On August 21, the Orlando Chapter hosted an education presentation at Antonio's in Maitland. Over 20 members and guests attended. The presentations were off by Lisa Sanchez, President of the Chapter. Her presentation on Increase Production and Save Time with Staff Meetings, discussed the difference between an effective, productive, and enjoyable staff meeting, from an unproductive one. The guest speaker Dr. Judith Miller from the Women's Center for Radiology gave her personal and emotional breast health experience. Her topic was on “Over Diagnosis of Breast Cancer,” as a physician she explored the current protocols and studies of breast health testing. With October Breast Health Awareness month around the corner – it is a reminder for each woman performing self exams and annual testing.

06/22/2014 - Chapter News
The Orlando Chapter of PAHCOM will present a CMM exam review course. Many of our members expressed interest in pursuing Certified Medical Manager certification. The chapter will provide a multi-session course which will include an overview of each section covered in the exam. We congratulate our members for taking the steps necessary to achieve the standard of excellence which is CMM designation. For more information and to register for the course, please email the chapter via the link on this website or to [email protected] In June, the general chapter meeting focused on Hazardous Material Management. Our featured speakers were Larry Barnet of Safety First and Adam Samuels of Advance Medical Solutions. Mr. Barnet discussed the many facets of OSHA and the resources available to office managers for training and testing staff. Mr. Samuels discussed Biomedical Waste Disposal and Pharmaceutical disposal. Elizabeth Sanchez, CMM, CMOM, chapter President, provided an inspirational educational session. “It’s Possible to Achieve the Impossible. Who said You Couldn't?” In May, Orlando chapter members were Fired up by the educational presentation. Chapter Treasurer, Milana Patterson, presented “Fired Up Employees” and it was memorable and revitalizing. The presentation had a lot of great tips for managers and professionals in general for staying energized, motivated, and provided tips for energizing staff. Please see the chapter’s May newsletter for a great exercise to stay Fired up! Lastly, it is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of a dear friend of the Orlando Chapter of PAHCOM. Mrs. Maxine Anastasia, past President of the Orlando chapter, passed away Sunday, June 15th. She is survived by her spouse, Leon Dawson, MD. Maxine was a longtime member of PAHCOM and a friend to medicine, and she was always willing to share her knowledge with members of the organization. She was a committed and dedicated member. Maxine will be deeply missed by her friends here in the medical community.
Don't forget today's CMM Review Class. Please don't forget your open mind and study guide.
