Florida, PA in Fort Myers This brings our total membership to 43 members. * Our February 2017 Chapter Lecture was presented by Michele Leo Hintson, Esq. and Timothy C. Garding, Esq. from Shumaker, Loop and Kendrick, LLP. The 2-part presentation: Cutting the Cord: Termination and Severance Issues, AND Interviewing and Selecting Employees: Everything You Need to Know Before You Say “You are Hired” was very enlightening. We reviewed best practices for protecting our practices from risks associated with applicable discrimination laws, interviewing, background checks and classification of employees when hiring; and employment at will, voluntary and involuntary terminations due to performance, and reductions in workforce when terminations occur. * During our March Chapter Meeting, Anita E. Ramirez, CHCC, from AER Consulting, Inc showed us why Customer Service is a critical piece to any successful Medical Practice in her Customer Service Workshop. * Risk and Document Management for Medical Office Managers and Staff was presented by Gabrielle Osborne, Esq. from the law firm of Beytin, McLaughlin, McLaughlin, O’Hara, Bocchino & Bolin, P.A. during our April 2017 meeting.

We recognize that taking on a Chapter leadership position is a big commitment, so we are happy to welcome back Anna Valdes, CMM as President, Elvira Kirksey, CMM as Treasurer, and Eddie Louderback, CMM as Membership Director and we are very excited to welcome 2 new members to the team, Renee Mancine, CMM, HITCM-PP as Vice President and Ginger Bibiloni, CMPE, CPPM as Secretary. We look forward to their contributions and infusion of fresh ideas. We plan to make 2017 our best year yet.
