Business Problem: Providers are challenged with managing patient populations under legislation that demands improved quality care and they lack the resources they need to transform their practices. Team Based Care (TBC) models provide a viable solution for Providers to meet these increasing demands, and are expected to see continued growth. For these models to be successful, practitioners like the Nurse and MA, need to expand knowledge and refine their skill set – setting them up for increased opportunities on these care teams

Many PAHCOM members have Advance Practice RNs and/or Physician Assistants in their practices; these professionals are an essential part of how PAHCOM offices deliver excellent patient care. Even so, there remain questions about contracting, supervision, and liability when APPs are part of an office staff. This program will address those issues, as well as how to reflect APPs in MACRA/MIPS reporting.

Finally, the session looks at the increasingly common independent practice of APRNs (now legal in 21+ states), the implications for small physician practices currently competing with these other providers, and lessons from the trend for states that still require physician supervision.

This program to looks at all aspects of the continually evolving role of APPs!
