Go to: PAHCOM.com > Membership & Community > My Membership ( formerly Member Self-Care)
Also, be sure you're familiar with the re-certitifcation process and CEU log.
Go to: PAHCOM.com > Education & Certification > Certified Medical Manager (CMM) and see Re-certification in the left margin menu.
Yes. There are PAHCOM Chapters all across the United States. Chapters typically meet monthly and offer educational instruction at chapter meetings. Use the Chapter Directory to locate a chapter near you!
Go to: PAHCOM.com > Membership & Community > Chapters and see Chapter Directory in the left margin menu.
No. Memberships belong to the person not the practice. They are not transferable.
PAHCOM is professional development for the manager and provides education and training to that person. Yes, it is a benefit to the practice to have a professional manager, just like it is a benefit to the practice to have board certified physicians. But neither convey to the next manager or physician.
It is best for you to check with your governing board. PAHCOM approves CEU training material based on applicability to the CMM program. Other programs and credentials have their own requirements for their certifications.
Certified Medical Managers (CMMs) must continue their education and submit 24 CEUs every two years for re-certification.
Go to: PAHCOM.com > Education & Certification > Certified Medical Manager (CMM) and see Re-certification in the left margin menu.
PAHCOM provides a CEU Log for each member to collect their CEUs. You can log them at anytime and we'll keep track of them for you. When your log has the required 24 CEUs in the applicable 24 month period, and if it's 60 days or less until your scheduled recertification date, the re-certification log will allow you to click and recertify.
PAHCOM Bucks are accrued in your PAHCOM account by earning them through programs like new member referrals , sending corporate member vouchers to the national office before the vendor's expiration date, or a credit to your account for various reasons including scholarship, gifts, etc.
Every time you refer a new member to PAHCOM, you will accrue $10 in PAHCOM Bucks on your account. The new member MUST note in the initial application that you referred them. Online membership requires new members to answer a question "Were you referred by a PAHCOM member". They cannot miss the question as the system will not allow them to move forward without answering it. Be sure they know your name so they can type it in. You can refer as many new members and accrue as many bucks as you want. There is no limit. Take a chunk out of your conference registration with this program!
The most popular vouchers are those from InHealth Systems. InHealth is a corporate member who gives voucher rebates to members as a percentage of purchases. Those vouchers are hardcopy paper with an expiration date printed on them. When you receive these in the mail, send them directly to the PAHCOM national office before the expiration date so they can be added to your account. Once on your PAHCOM account, they never expire and can be used for any purchase from PAHCOM including conference, certification, books, etc.
PAHCOM Bucks may be transferred to other members at any time for any reason. Simply email the national office with your request to transfer your Bucks.
PAHCOM Bucks maintain their value as long as your membership remains active. Expired accounts will be zeroed out. If you are planning to allow your membership to expire, it's a good idea to transfer your Bucks well in advance. No retroactive transfers will be accepted. Once an account is expired, there are no Bucks.
While PAHCOM Bucks can be spent as cash (dollar for dollar, same value), they cannot be cashed in for dollars and have no value outside of the PAHCOM system.
Your PAHCOM Bucks balance can been seen in your profile under My Membership (formerly Member Self-Care). It is also presented in the payment section anytime you're making a purchase at PAHCOM.
Yes, you can donate your Bucks to the Scholarship Fund.
The PAHCOM ListServ Forum is an online service that functions as a resource for members to ask questions, share solutions, offer suggestions, or just to confirm that you are headed in the right direction. It also serves as a medium for members to receive news and updates about PAHCOM and related information.
PAJCOM.COM > Membership & Community > Member Tools > ListServ Forum
The PAHCOM ListServ Forum is without question, one of the industry's most powerful networking tools. All PAHCOM members have access to this service. It is included with PAHCOM membership. Go to: PAHCOM.com > Membership & Community > Member Tools > ListServ Forum and see Subscribe in the left margin menu.
You can manage the method in which you get your emails and have them sent directly to a dedicated email folder so they won't overwhelm your regular inbox. Or you can use "Digest mode" which will allow you to receive all the messages in one email every morning.
Go to: PAHCOM.com > Membership & Community Tools > Member Tools > ListServ Forum and see Too Much Mail in the left margin menu.
Use Member Self-Care to manage and stay on top of your account information. Your membership expiration date is displayed near the top of the page in Member Self-Care.
Go to: PAHCOM.COM > Membership & Community > My Membership (formerly Member Self Care).
PAHCOM will also send you email reminders at intervals prior to your membership expiration date. Be sure your email address is current so that you enjoy the benefit of these courtesy reminders. It is your responsibility to renew your membership BEFORE it expires. Failure to do so will result in your membership expiring. Re-joining PAHCOM is more expensive than renewing and if you're a CMM, you are required to maintain continuous membership (no gap). Failure to do so will result in decertification of your CMM.
Yes. Conference exhibiting is open to all quality products and service providers for the medical office management industry. Corporate Members of PAHCOM receive significant discounts for exhibiting at the national conference. That same courtesy discount is extended Gold Level Chapter Sponsors

During business hours and when call volume is low, PAHCOM staff is available to take your call immediately. But even when we're helping another member or if it's 2 AM, you will never have to speak to a machine or press through a series of extensions. In a worst case scenario, an agent will take your message and see that it is addressed by PAHCOM staff as soon as possible.
Vouchers (now referred to as "PAHCOM Bucks") in your PAHCOM account never expire...BUT ... Vouchers you receive from Corporate Members will have an expiration date printed on them. It is important that you turn them in to PAHCOM before they expire so they can be added to your account. Then they will remain valid until you use them. unless you allow your PAHCOM membership to lapse, in which case your vouchers become invalid.
When a new member joins and lists you as the person who referred him/her, PAHCOM will add $10 in PAHCOM Bucks to your account. The new member MUST list you as the referring party when he/she registers for new membership.

Yes. PAHCOM works with many solutions providers/vendors to support needs of small practices. See the list of PAHCOM Corporate Members here - http://www.pahcom.com/corporate/directory.php.
Or go to: PAHCOM.com > Partners & Sponsors > Online Solutions Directory
Each corporate member has their own webpage in the directory where they speak directly to PAHCOM members. Just click on the logo to get more information about that vendor. Many offer discounts for services and promote those on their PAHCOM webpage. They also include contact information specifically for small practice inquiries.
The directory has a filter to help you find the type of business you're looking for. Choose from categories like Compliance, EMR/EHR, Information Technology, etc.
If you ever have a legitimate issue with a PAHCOM Corporate Member company, we want to know. And, we will help you find resolution to your issue. As a PAHCOM member, you are part of a larger group and not just one practice. Our numbers command attention and we're able to see that your voice is heard.
Not at re-certification time. But you must keep them on hand in your posession in case you are audited.
PAHCOM audits 10% of CMMs in an effort to ensure the integrity of the certification program. When your number comes up for an audit, you will be asked to submit all documents of proof for your claimed CEUs. Audits apply to a past period of re-certification so you must keep your proof of CEUs that apply to the last period of re-certification. This will equate to a maximum of four years past documentation.
Inability to provide documentation supporting each CEU claimed may result in decertification of your CMM.
Your account information can be updated on the My Membership (formerly Member Self-Care) page.
Go to: PAHCOM.com >Membership & Community > My Membership (formerly Member Self-Care)
The CMM exam is offered at the Annual PAHCOM Conference as well as online at various remote testing sites around the country. To locate a site convenient for you, go to:
PAHCOM.com > Education & Certification > Certified Medical Manager (CMM)
Then look to the submenu on the left and see Exam Locations in the TAKE THE EXAM section.
Here's a direct link - https://www.pahcom.com/cmm/exam-locations.html
From there you enter your zip code and you can see where the testing centers are. Do not apply through these testing centers though. Apply through PAHCOM and then the testing center hub will call you for your location preference.
You will be decertified. Retention of certification requires three criteria to be met:
• obtain 24 hours of Continuing Education Units (CEUs) every two years
• submit CEUs via the PAHCOM CEU Log along with a small processing fee
• maintain continuous PAHCOM membership
CMM - https://www.pahcom.com/cmm/recertification.html
HITCM-PP - https://www.pahcom.com/hitcm-pp/recertification.html
Your membership will expire and you will lose all your member benefits and your seniority ("member since" date). If you are a CMM, you will be decertified and any voucher balance in your account will be erased.
PAHCOM sends three courtesy renewal reminders to your email address on file. This allows ample time for you to renew and avoid loss of benefits so you must be sure to keep your email address and other information updated in Member Self Care.
The $20 discount is given when you renew online with a credit card. Click the CC button which will alert the system that you are paying online and apply the discount.

When you are renewing your membership online with a credit card, the shopping cart check out process will ask you if you'd like to set your membership for auto-renew? If you select that option, you will not only never have to worry about a lapse in your benefits, you will also save more money by freezing your effective membership dues. Dues stay the same as they are on the date you set up auto-renew. They will reset if you ever cancel though so if you change credit cards, be sure to change cards vs. cancel and reset.

If you are logged in to the PAHCOM website, you can see a list of members of any given PAHCOM chapter on the bottom right of the chapter's webpage - http://www.pahcom.com/chapters/chapter_directory.php
Chapter webpages are also available at PAHCOM-ChapterName.com Examples are:
PAHCOM-TraverseCity.com
PAHCOM-PikesPeak.com
PAHCOM-Orlando.com
etc.
Each PAHCOM Chapter has five officers and one liaison from the Chapter Support Committee. The CSC Liaison is assigned to offer your chapter additional support on a national level and assist with sharing knowledge across all chapters in concert with other CSC Liaisions and the CSC Chair. It is through coordinated knowledge sharing that PAHCOM is able to provide the best access to information and resources in the industry!
Each chapter's liaison can be contacted through that chapter's webpage and through the CSC page here - http://www.pahcom.com/chapters/support-committee.html
Chapter webpages are at: PAHCOM hyphen ChapterName dot com. Here's an example: PAHCOM-TraverseCity.com
No. The CMM is a senior level credential with the highest qualifications of any certification in the industry. You must have a minimum of 3 years experience in a patient care environment and 12 college credits in order to be eligible to take the exam. 15 years experience may be substituted but there is no exemption for minimum experience.
There is a published list of all Certified Medical Managers (CMMs) on the PAHCOM website under the Certification menu.
Go to: PAHCOM.com > Education & Certification > Certified Medical Manager (CMM) and then see the left submenu toward the bottom under the "Other" section called CMM List.
Here's a direct link - https://www.pahcom.com/cmm/cmm-list.php
You can see them by the PAHCOM Chapter they're in as well if you want to.
Also note we have a link for New CMMs in that same left menu just above the CMM List.
The HITCM-PPs are listed the same way.
You can turn off the flow of messages while you're away at conference or vacation, turn it back on, have it send you only one email synopsis daily, or unsubscribe altogether. You have full control over your ListServ experience and all the bells and whistles are right here:
PAHCOM.com > Membership & Community > Member Tools > ListServ Forum. Here's a direct link - https://www.pahcom.com/members/listserv.php
See the submenu on the left margin of the page and choose from Too Much Mail (to help you manage the flow and organize your folders), and Stop Mail (for when you're going to be away and don't need these piling up). Stop Mail gives you the option to stop temporary or indefinitely. Subscribe is there in case you're not on the List right now and want to be as might be the case if you stopped it indefinitely at some point.
Active members may re-test as many times as is necessary to pass the certification exam up to one year after the first testing date.
This is true for both the CMM and the HITCM-PP exams. So, relax and don't sweat it. Focus on what you know and not on the consequences of freezing in a testing environment. You'll do great!

You MUST complete the survey collection exercise in order to receive the report!
All PAHCOM members who participate in the data collection of the Salary Survey will receive free access to the final report. The Survey runs Mid-March through the first week of April (3 weeks) and collects data from all members (and non-members) who are the business administrative managers in their medical practice.
The final report is used by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics to represent our industry. PAHCOM leads with the most access and reach to this community. Your voice matters and helps the industry as a whole evaluate changes and trends in healthcare. And with free access to the final report yourself, you will be able to evaluate your practice and make adjustments as needed with hard fast data and statistics through this, the ultimate sharing of knowledge on a grand scale!
It takes every member to submit their information in order to achieve the most accurate report.
The survey can be completed in 15 minutes or less if you have the following information at your fingertips:
1. Your individual annual salary and benefits data from last year
2. The AVERAGE annual salary by job title and benefits information for FULL-TIME staff
3. The AVERAGE hourly wage by job title and benefits information for PART-TIME staff
The report will no longer be posted on the PAHCOM website for all members to download! You must complete the survey in order to receive free access to the report. Every PAHCOM member checks a box agreeing to participate in this one survey each year (in the application for membership). This is it!
Auto-Renew is a feature that protects your membership and saves you money:
1. Save money:
When you activate auto-renew, we freeze your renewal dues at the price they are the day you activate this feature. For members who chose this the first year it was available, they will renew membership at $145 every year.
2. Protect your membership:
Auto-renew relieves you of risk of membership expiration, interruption of services, and for those who are certified, de-certification. When you choose auto-renew, your membership will renew each year without you having to remember, see the reminder emails, etc. It just renews automatically on the credit card you have identified.
When we initially launched this feature in 2012, you had to renew your membership in order to use this feature. While you can still access the auto-renew feature when you're renewing, you can now also turn on (or off) auto-renew from your Member Self-Care panel at any time. Look for Auto-Renew next to your membership expiration date information.
PAHCOM.com > Membership & Community > My Membership (formerly Member Self-Care). Then see Auto-Renew. Here's a direct link - https://www.pahcom.com/members/profilerm.php
A: Membership and Certification are different things.
Membership gives you access to PAHCOM resources and the national network for Sharing Knowledge. Membership is renewed annually.
Recertification only applies to members who are certified either as CMMs or HITCM-PPs (Certified Medical Managers or Health Information Technology Certified Managers for Physician Practice). Maintaining certification requires Continuing Education Units be logged and submitted every two years.
See this page for CMM recertification details - https://www.direct.pahcom.com/cmm/overview.html
See this page for HITCM-PP recertification details - https://www.direct.pahcom.com/hitcm-pp/overview.html
PAHCOM.com > Education & Certification and then look for either CMM or HITCM-PP
You can see your membership dates and if you're certified, your recertification dates in Member Self-Care any time you want to. Email reminders are sent from national but these dates should never be a surprise to you.
PAHCOM.com > Membership & Community > My Membership (formerly Member Self-Care).
Yes. PAHCOM has negotiated a significant discount (~50%) on rooms for attendees of the Annual PAHCOM Conference. The conference hotel is the Hilton Clearwater Beach and is literally on the beach.
When you make your reservation, use the online link as it will automatically take you to the PAHCOM block and apply the PAHCOM rate. Hotel information can be found here - http://www.pahcom.com/conference/hotel.html
Make your reservations early! The special discounted rate is limited to the number of rooms per night we anticipate will be used by PAHCOM attendees. When more attendees reserve rooms than did the previous year, we sell out.
Bring your family and make a vacation of it! PAHCOM includes discounted rooms for the weekend before and the weekend after the conference so you can work a mini-vacation into your trip. But again, discounted rooms are limited so make your reservations early.
PAHCOM.com > Education & Certification > Annual Conference then see the Hotel/Travel link on the left margin. Here's a direct link - http://www.pahcom.com/conference/hotel.html
The hotel website and reservations phone number are also on that page.
You can access old messages and even search the list for topics discussed here from up to one year ago.
Here's how to do that:
- On the ListServ webpage there is a left margin with many options to help you manage your ListServ. One of them is called Web Portal. Click the Web Portal and log in. Use your ListServe email address.
- You'll see the list of messages by date with the subject noted. You can scroll through or use the search option.
- Search is on the top left. Click that to enter a topic like, ARRH, or HIPAA, etc.
- Note that only a few results will show up initially but there's a "Show more" button at the bottom.
You are the best and brightest in the industry! Your questions, answers, support, and expertise make a huge difference for everyone in this forum. We not only help each other but through each other we help physicians, patients, and communities beyond our own.
Thank you to all who participate and Share Your Knowledge!

Yes. You can see your chosen sessions anytime you want from Member Self-Care on the PAHCOM.com website. Your profile will tell you if you've already registered for conference or not and what sessions you've chosen. Plus you can edit your choices right up until the day of conference.
Many members choose to register for conference in January because it's heavily discounted at that time but the sessions and speakers have not yet been identified so they cannot select sessions when they originally registered. Through Member Self-Care, they can come back and add their choices in April when the schedule is published and sessions are identified.
Some of you might change your mind or want to remind yourself what sessions you signed up for. This service also helps you with that as you can review your choices and modify them at your leisure.
It's important to fill out your choices so the PAHCOM conference team can optimize space and ensure there's plenty of seating for every event. We might use fewer row seats and add more tables if a room is not too crowded or remove tables to fit more rows if a session proves to be a favorite based on attendee choice information.
See you at Conference!

Membership renewal simply adds one year of membership to your account beginning with the day following your membership expiration date.
If you renew early, you will not lose any membership because we're just tacking on another year to the dates you already had. And if you renewed right then, again, it would add yet another year to the new expiration date (in essence adding two years). It's adding one year to the expiration date of your membership each time you renew, regardless of the date you do it.
BEWARE: If you are renewing after your membership has expired, your renewal will do the exact same thing and add one year to your expiration date. That means you actually lose membership service time by renewing late. If you find you're really late, like a few months, you might choose to re-join instead so you can get a full year of membership. If you renew 3 months late, the new year will begin on the day after your last membership's expiration. That means you now only get nine months of membership (really 12 as it begins where your last one left off but in essence since you have not been active for three months, you're losing that time).
Renewals are consecutive, year after year. If there's a break, you can re-join and get a full year from that new membership date.
Re-joining means a new account and new "Member Since" date. It's starting over. If you were almost at your ten year membership point, and you do not renew, you will lose that status and start over.
Certified members be aware that a break in membership decertifies your CMM or HITCM-PP. Continuous membership is one of the requirements for certification.

You have likely unsubscribed from e-notes at some point or you have not updated your primary email address in My Membership. Double check My Membership and if that's accurate, send us an email asking us to check your subscription to the e-note service. It's a separate entity and unlike the PAHCOM ListServ (which you can subscribe to and unsubscribe from at will), the e-note service can be unsubscribed by you but must be re-subscribed by the National office.
