09/10/2019 - PIKES PEAK CHAPTER NEWS
Pikes Peak Chapter News Bring on Fall! This is a common statement lately from Colorful Colorado. When summer finally came (late), it came with very hot temperatures! Our latest meeting: Do You Understand the CMS Imaging Requirements - If Not You Must Attend! This was presented by Renee Ward, MBA, CR, RT(N)(AART)CNMT, Chief Executive Officer for Colorado Springs Radiologists, PC/Penrad Imaging LLC and Robin Creech, MBA, Provider and Payer Relations Lead for Colorado Springs Radiologists/Penrad Imaging LLC. Beginning in 2020, if you order Medicare Part B advanced diagnostic imaging services, you must consult appropriate use criteria (AUC) through a qualified Clinical Decision Support Mechanism (CDSM). You must also provide the information to furnishing professionals and facilities, because they must report AUC consultation information on their Medicare claims. Until January 1, 2020, participating in the AUC program is voluntary. If you choose to participate during the voluntary period available beginning July 1, 2018, the furnishing professional and facility may append a new HCPCS modifier to the CPT code on the claim to denote AUC consultation occurred: QQ: Ordering professional consulted a qualified clinical decision support mechanism for this service and the related data was provided to the furnishing professional When CMS uses “you” in this document, they are referring to physicians, other practitioners, and facilities ordering advanced diagnostic imaging services and/or furnishing Part B advanced diagnostic imaging services to Medicare beneficiaries and billing Medicare Administrative Contractors (MACs). If you have not heard about this, please read MLN Matters Number: MM11268—very important to know! This was an excellent and very educational meeting, keeping us in the know for what is to come! September’s meeting will be “HIPAA Done Right” on September 12, 2019. Our Speaker will be Joseph Macedo, a National Speaker & HIPAA Compliancy Expert COME AND FIND OUT: 1. How to meet all federal requirements for effective HIPAA training 2. How your organization can avoid breaches and fines 3. What you can be doing right now to protect your organization 4. How to keep your name off the Wall of Shame! This meeting is being Sponsored by Colorado Hi Tech Solutions, one of our valued sponsors. Can’t wait to hear all about it! We will not have our October meeting, as most of our members will be attending the UHC Provider Expo on 10/24/19. Just an FYI about our Chapter! “Breakfast Club” for our chapter started several years ago in 2005. Eight members studied together for our CMM exam and all eight passed! We enjoyed getting together so much that we ended up meeting once a month to take on special projects for the chapter and overall networking. Fourteen years later, we continue to meet, network and plan for our annual Payer Meeting as well as working with the schools and colleges in producing better Medical Assistants and Administrative Assistants. I am proud to be a member of this great chapter and even prouder of our members and executive board! Chris Hall, President, PAHCOM Pikes Peak Chapter
